Getting rid of furniture in Zurich: your options

City bulky waste collection

The City of Zurich collects bulky waste for a fee, but only from the kerb. You have to carry everything down yourself, and there are weight and size limits per item.

Drive to a recycling centre

The fee depends on the weight. You'll need a car or van, a second person and usually half a day.

Take-back by the furniture store

Furniture stores usually only take old furniture when they deliver a new piece, and even that costs extra.

Brockenhaus (second-hand shop)

Brockis sometimes collect furniture in good condition for free, but only pieces they can sell, and often with a wait.

We take your furniture to the right disposal and recycling points. Wood, metal and upholstery are recycled separately where possible.

What does furniture disposal cost in Zurich?

A chair costs CHF 20, a dining table up to 1.2 m CHF 55 and a 3-seater sofa CHF 110, each including carrying, transport and disposal. You'll find all prices on the prices page.

Is it worth it for a single piece of furniture?

There is a minimum charge of CHF 90 per pickup. So a single chair costs CHF 90. Best to add whatever else needs to go.

Do you take furniture in good condition?

Yes. Pieces in good condition are passed on rather than thrown away.

Do I need to be there?

Not necessarily. If access is arranged, we can collect without you and send you photos of the cleared rooms afterwards.

How soon can you come?

That depends on how busy we are. With Express we can collect as early as the next working day, depending on availability (+CHF 30).

If you're flexible, choose a Flex date: we pick the day within 7 days and you save 10%.
