Getting rid of a wardrobe in Zurich: your options

City bulky waste collection

The City of Zurich collects bulky waste for a fee, but only from the kerb. Large wardrobes have to be taken apart and carried down by you.

Drive to a recycling centre

The fee depends on the weight. You'll need a car or van, a second person and usually half a day.

Brockenhaus (second-hand shop)

Brockis sometimes collect furniture in good condition for free, but only pieces they can sell, and often with a wait.

Many wardrobes only fit through the stairwell in pieces. We take care of that.

We charge wardrobes per unit up to 1 m wide, and wall units and bookcases per metre or part of a metre. You'll find the exact prices on the prices page.

What does wardrobe disposal cost in Zurich?

A wardrobe unit up to 1 m costs CHF 55, with mirror doors CHF 85. A wall unit costs CHF 85 per metre or part of a metre, each including carrying, transport and disposal. There is a minimum charge of CHF 90 per pickup.

Do I need to empty the wardrobe?

Yes, please. If the contents should go too, mention it in your request. We're happy to take boxes and odds and ends.

Do I need to take the wardrobe apart first?

Usually not. If something needs taking apart, we include that in the price.

Does it cost more if I live on the 4th floor without a lift?

No. Carrying from any floor is included in the price, with or without a lift.

How soon can you come?

That depends on how busy we are. With Express we can collect as early as the next working day, depending on availability (+CHF 30).
